SD Strada Cakung – Tuesday, August 18, 2026

SD Strada Cakung was honored to welcome representatives from the Bekasi City Environmental Agency (DLH) on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The activity took place from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., with Mrs. Yuyun, Mr. Anom, and Mr. Hergi sharing valuable knowledge about waste sorting and turning organic waste into compost.

The seminar was attended by representatives from Grades 5 and 6. As the oldest students in the elementary school, they are expected to become role models for younger students in keeping the school clean and protecting the environment. This activity was also part of SD Strada Cakung’s efforts to become an environmentally friendly school, also known as an Adiwiyata School.

The seminar was active, enjoyable, and educational. In the first session, students learned about waste problems in their surroundings, different types of waste, and ways to sort and reduce waste. In the second session, they learned how organic waste can be processed into compost or organic fertilizer.

The students did not only listen to the presentation. They also took part in hands-on activities. The Environmental Agency held a fun quiz with prizes and demonstrated a simple way to make compost using dry leaves and used gallons. The activity continued with a visit to the organic waste processing area behind the school, where students observed the progress of the school’s waste-sorting program, which had been running for more than one month.

Through this activity, students are expected to understand that protecting the environment can start with simple habits, such as sorting waste, reducing waste, and turning organic waste into something useful.

This small step is part of SD Strada Cakung’s ongoing effort to create a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally friendly school.

Let’s start with ourselves: Sort waste, process waste, and protect our planet!
